How MEMEs can help achieve big goals?

War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy spans over 1200 pages. While I loved other works of Tolstoy, and wanted to read this masterpiece, the sheer size of the novel seemed daunting.

That’s when a friend suggested, “why not read 10 pages every day, you will finish it in 4 months.”

Embracing this approach, I began my journey through Tolstoy’s epic. Each day, those 10 pages became my focus, breaking down the colossal task into manageable daily milestones. I was soon immersed in the rich tapestry of characters and the story.

That’s the power of SMALL GOALS. They are like MEMEs

M – they seem less daunting and more MANAGEABLE. They help us see what needs to be done immediately, rather than feeling overwhelmed by the enormity of the goal.

E – when we achieve a small goal, the pleasure network of the brain gets activated through release of dopamine. It ENTHUSES us to do more!

M – they help us MEASURE progress: are we moving in the right direction? If not, we can make quick course correction.

E – when we move in right direction with small success, small goals ENERGIZE us to sustain our efforts and reach the end goal.

Have you leveraged MEMEs to achieve big goals in your life?
