What you do after work can change your life…
Let me share three real stories. Different people. Different choices. Different outcomes
⭕ Ravi works with a MNC. Tired, he comes home after work and heads straight to the couch. He watches TV, scrolls through social media, eats dinner, and tells himself he’s too tired to do anything else. “Maybe someday,” he will read all the books he bought or restart oil painting, his childhood hobby. That “someday” has lasted five years now.
⭕ Sunil works in a factory. There was no money to pursue a full-time engineering degree. After his job, he attends evening class to earn a diploma in engineering. Slowly, step by step, he is building himself up. He is hopeful to become a supervisor soon. And plans to enrol in AMIE next year.
⭕Vikram worked in a high stress job that left him drained. To relieve this stress, he went for walks after work. Then jogs. He read up on health and nutrition. Took online courses. Slowly, what began as a small self-care routine became a passion. And eventually, a profession. Today, he’s a certified wellness coach who helps others lead healthier lives.
Three people. Same 24 hours. The difference lies in how they chose to spend their after work hours. 🪴 🪴
“What you do in your free time defines who you are more than your actual job.” This idea is rooted in the work of Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, the renowned psychologist best known for the concept of flow.
Our free time isn’t free—it’s an investment. 💰 💰
Whether we spend it passively or intentionally decides whether we grow or stagnate as individuals.
Have you seen Ravi, Sunil and Vikram in your life? What is your take on free time?
