Behind talent

Last weekend, I went to a music concert with friends. The ambiance was magical; one artist stayed with most of us—the sarangi player. As his fingers danced effortlessly on the strings, the hall resonated with melodies.

“Wow! He is so talented!” we exclaimed, marvelling at the ease with which he created magic.

The next day, I was stuck with a thought: how wrong we were in our thinking about this artist.

Talent? Yes, it was evident.

What we didn’t see was the INVISIBLE — the hours of practice spent perfecting every note, the calloused fingers, the sacrifices made along the way. What truly sets him apart is not just talent but the unseen layers of hard work, perseverance, and determination.

It’s easy to look at accomplished leaders, colleagues, or even friends and attribute their success to innate talent or luck. But the truth is, the grace we see is often a result of invisible, relentless effort.

Understanding this can be both humbling and empowering. It reminds us that success isn’t just about talent; it’s about the work we put in when no one is watching.

What’s your take – talent or the INVISIBLE behind it?
